“Whether at home or in the office, the cheerful bird songs allow us to briefly immerse ourselves in a world without stress and time pressure. We take a deep breath and relax, as if on a walk in the forest: we hear the refreshing songs of the birds, our gaze softens, and our breathing deepens. This is healthy for mind and body.”
The sound installation questions the role of humans in their relationship with nature. The birdbath, in which a film of oil trembles ominously, reflects humans in today’s society who view nature as an object to control and exploit, continually depleting and ultimately destroying it. The “Chirping Box” mirrors the artificial integration of nature into our daily lives. Nature as “timeless beauty, accessible to all and touching everyone’s deepest heart.” A substitute for what is already missing.
